A respected small-town circuit judge faces the most controversial trial of her career

Hi, I’m Stephanie, founder of Melanated Manuscripts.
Reading wasn’t always my favorite thing to do. As I got older, though, life became busier, heavier, and sometimes overwhelming—and I found myself looking for an escape. Reading became that escape.
Melanated Manuscripts was born from a simple desire: to read more fiction and spend more time connecting with my homegirls. What started as a personal goal quickly grew into something bigger—a space where women can gather, share perspectives, laugh, debate, and build community through books.
I’m especially passionate about highlighting and celebrating Black authors, Black stories, and strong Black leading characters. There is something powerful about seeing ourselves reflected on the page, and I wanted to create a space where those stories could be appreciated, discussed, and shared.
Whether you finish every chapter, read at your own pace, or simply show up for the conversation, there’s a place for you here.
Welcome to Melanated Manuscripts—where good books, good company, and bold conversations come together.
