It wasn't just a romance novel—there were so many layers to both Neevah and Cannon, and even the side characters felt fully developed. Every character came across as real and authentic. The chemistry between the leads was incredible, but what truly reeled me in (pun intended) was the depth of Neevah and Cannon as individuals.
Their work ethic, their motivations, and the moral challenges they faced—forgiveness, empathy, loss, and sacrifice—gave the story so much substance and emotional weight.
Kennedy Ryan has a remarkable gift for humanizing her characters. From their conversations to their vulnerabilities, everything feels genuine and believable.
For me, Reel wasn't just a romance novel. It was a story about purpose, timing, taking chances on yourself, and allowing yourself to be truly seen.
One of my favorite things about this book was that it gave us so much to discuss. Even Melanated Manuscripts members who didn’t finish the book found themselves invested in the conversation, and that’s always the sign of a great book club pick.
