This book went perfectly with Before I Let Go. It was a story about rediscovering yourself after life takes an unexpected turn.
One of the things I appreciated most about this novel was watching Soledad reclaim her identity. When everything she believed about her life was turned upside down , she had a choice- remain stuck in what was or find the strength to build something new. Kennedy Ryan beautifully illustrates that healing isn't about pretending the pain never happened, it's about deciding that your future doesn't have to be defined by it.
I am not usually a fan of a slow burn romantic connection, but I loved the build of Soledad and Judah's relationship. Their connection wasn't rushed or built solely on physical attraction. It was rooted in friendship, respect, trust and emotional safety. It's a reminder that some of the healthiest love stories begin with two people showing up for one another one day at a time.
One of my favorite takeaways from this book is that starting over isn't a sign of failure, it's often the beginning of becoming the person you were meant to be. Sometimes life forces us to release the version of ourselves we thought we had to be so we can discover who we truly are and what we're truly made of.
This Could Be Us is a beautiful reminder that healing is possible, love can find you in unexpected places and your story doesn't end because one chapter closes.
